I put a new starter switch on my G. It was trying to go but would barley make a slight noise like it wanted to turn. Now many weeks later when a pull on the switch I get nothing. Any suggestions on what all to troubleshoot? I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Bobby, as Jay said, be sure your battery is charged, Remove and clean all four connection points for the cables(especially the ground)If it was cranking ok in the past, we’ll take it that the cables are big enough. A lot of these new switches are of poor quality, and from the land of close enough, I’d be sure you’re getting good travel on the pull rod, and even push down on the switch button with a piece of wood and see if it makes connect and cranks.
Let us know what you find ****and welcome to our forum fellow Georgian!

6 or converted to 12v? Do you have the original style switch on the starter? Why the new switch? Just questions. As said above if 6v make sure the cables are sausage size and all connections super clean and tight. Also as mentioned make sure switch does work. Was the starter working? The guys above know more than the one below. Welcome!!

Bobby, I agree with all the above. One more thing to check is remove the new switch and make sure the contact points are are REALLY clean. If you are mechanically inclined you might want to remove the starter tear it down and clean the commutator reassemble and see it it works. I did that to the starter on my G and it works great now.

Yeah, those mechanical Starter switches are the worst. Voltage drop city. The Starter motor also can just be tuckered out and need to be rebuilt. I have a 6V exchange unit on the shelf. I also have one of our new 12V Starter motors based off a gear reduction Denso chassis sitting on the shelf as well, if you want to flip it to 12V. The 12V unit is actually cheaper than the 6V version to build, and it's outright. No core needed. It's a brand new unit! Visit our website if interested........ I also offer a complete 12V conversion for the little G which includes everything (including our new Starter) to make the upgrade... Steve@B&B bb-customcircuits.com
