In my area and other shows I have been to Deere and IH usually are the majority unless it is an Allis feature show. After those two I would say it is pretty even as to what may show up.

Our tractor show in Renfro Valley, Ky is featuring Allis-Chalmers in October. I have to agree with the above in that it depends on what is the feature tractor. This year it was Ford and they outnumbered everything. But if you exclude the feature tractor it is a close race between John Deere and IH.

We do pretty good here in Indiana. I am usually amazed by what shows up at the feature shows.

JD & IHC were the prevalent tractors in the Midwest (decades ago when I was growing up on a farm). The other mfgers had good tractors and good equipment, but did not have the good, large dealerships essentual for survival during hard times.

If you are tired of seeing green and red at the shows come to the Orange Power of the Past Show at Paris, Il. July 15-16, 2011 or The Orange Spectacular Show at Hutchinson, Mn. July 22-24, 2011 to see all orange(except for a few early green AC's)

Thats usually the case around here. Many of the tractors in fields or sitting by sheds awaiting their tasks are AC yet when you get to the shows the only ones painted up are Deere and IH.

I think it's more a status thing, when people started restoring tractors it was in the late '60s and into the '70's. At the time 2 cylinder John Deere's were more or less considered obsolete, even though there a lot still thousands working every day. They were cheap and with a new coat looked sharp. Some of the better off farmers started to restore them and started shows to take them to. The IH guys weren't about to get a green tractor so they restored their old red iron. A lot of Allis guys, me included, just kept running the orange and didn't really get into restoring them until we saw how much fun it was to take a shiny old tractor to a show. My first one was our G that we had owned since the early '70's, I have used it all along but finally got around to repainting it 20 some years ago. I think I've got 54 tractors of various sizes and makes, very few restored but over half run and do some work now and then. That's my 2 cents, no hard feelings if you don't agree.

It's the same in the UK. Most shows are flooded with Ferguson (including MF) and Fordson tractors. Whilst I have nothing against these makes, one does get rather bored by the sea of grey, grey/red and blue stuff. We do see quite a few Allis B's, but the other models are not so often on show except where Allis is the featured make. It's the same with a number of other makes - Oliver, MM etc and (surprisingly for US members) John Deere!! I run the YVA Show at Newby Hall in Yorkshire and when we featured JD we had a real problem getting owners to bring the green and yellow stuff out. A few years ago we featured Allis-Chalmers and we did rather better!

As Dale H. ECIL stated If you want to see a good working show with mostly ORANGE you need to go to shows like his. We have been to Dale show since it started and will be there again this year. Florida Flywheelers has the GOTO mid February, Hunthcinson GOTO is end of July, Allis Connection is Fathers day weekend in Iowa. The A-C Jamboree is another good one. |

most tractor show people think that they all have to be all painted up to bring them to the show , so the old allis's are still at home doing the work. nothing like an old tractor in work cloths at a show to show up the shiny ones. Just about every Jd collector has an allis to do the work at home.
