I would strongly recommend keeping the screen in place. The lack of a screen caused my tractor to pick up parts off a gear in the tourqe tube of my tractor not once but twice!!! First time it was a small piece and only busted one gear in the pump so I flushed the system twice and everything was fine for about 15 hours when I had the tractor wound up disking and BANG I had sucked up multiple of large teeth and bearing pieces into the hydraulic pump and locked it up solid wrecking the pump housing and internals as well is snapping the nose of my camshaft clean off and taking out all 12 pushrods!!! A $45 screen would have saved me quite the headache.

No one said anything about removing the screen from the sump !!! Read the entire post and understand.   Suction "strainer" inside the left side frame was used prior to chassis s/n 14,965 and then they quit using it because of the problems it caused.
