Interested in changing hydraulics from 41 B to 49 B. Not sure what all is entailed. Is it difficult to swap out. The '41 has a hydraulic lever for raising and lowering the belly mower. Would like to include it with the conversion to the '49. However, the mower is working on the '49 and I don't want to mess up the PTO. It looks like 4 bolts, but I don't know what I am getting into...will try to include pics of both. Hydraulic attached on right side of PTO...Will I lose fluid? Are there gears to contend with?

Your quickest and easiest bet is to just swap the whole PTO/pully/hydaulic assemblies.
Drain all three plugs first. Edited by GlenninPA - 30 Apr 2010 at 6:32am |

Remove the plate that covers the hydraulic pump opening on your 49. Shine a flashlight inside to see if the PTO shaft has a couple of oblong lobes (these are what drives the plungers on the pump). If it has those lobes you're good to go. Just bolt on the pump from your 41. You might have to make a new gasket and I can't remember if the fluid level is high enough to need the oil drained. |
