Got the other front engine plate back today. Got the 3 other holes drilled and the top ground out for the rack cap.
The bottom left hole in pic will need a very short headed bolt to clear the idler gear inside the front cover. And why I say other 3 holes drilled is because the top right hole is one that's factory for the roosamaster. |

I think 210-220 is a little light on the hp estimate. With the S300 & upgraded pump, injectors& bigger lines it should be around 240-ish.....

Bigger lines do nothing for HP. Injectors will flow about the same amount of fuel. Hp will depend on the injection pump and turbo. Turbo because you will be getting a cooler more dense air charge, and pump because of more fuel. Seeing that our 220 has pretty much the same setup but it has 140cc of fuel, she is at 220 HP at 1000 PTO rpm. So seeing that the hydro pump of the 8000 series take more HP, im guessing around 210-220. But I guess we will see. When its back together, I will be taking it for a drive to the local dealer and put it on the dyno.

And according to KcGrain, a 140HP pump from a deere will give the 426 190HP. So if Ed would chime in on how many CC's a 4450 or whatever deere that's 140 hp we could figure it out.

well, a stock 4440 which is a 466 is 98cc @ 2200rpm, and that should make for a 130 pto hp.

Almost ready to put in the tractor. Just need to get a few little things that didn't come in the kit. Here's a few pics of the progress.
Also have been doing alittle filter crossing and came up with this CAT filter for the By-pass. Its only $12 bucks at the local Cat dealer. Instead of $20 bucks for the Agco filter. And this is what my brother has been doing. Took up the mat and cleaned all the old dirt and who knows what else. lol here's a pic. |

What's the micron rating on that Cat filter??? I doubt that it's as fine/small as the AGCO luberfiner filter.

I'll agree with you there DR. It cracks me up everyday when people get aftermarket filters cuz they are cheaper. Odds are its for a good reason. Equipment is designed to run a certain micron filter. I prooved it this winter and its been prooved in our shop at the case IH dealer.

The AC luberfiner filter is a low volume, very fine micron, intended to extend oil change intervals. A filter that is larger micron won't accomplish the intent of the luberfiner design.

What's the micron rating of the Agco filter? And is that rating single or multi pass.

I ran the Donaldson equivalent to the CAT filter on our 8050-70's for many thousands of hours and never had a problem and yes it is a 20 micron full flow filter. I do see you left the restrictor on coming off the oil cooler which is good. I really feel the extra oil capacity was the main idea behind the extra filter. We've used Delvac 15-40 since it's conception and at that time changed @ 100-125 hrs. Not trying to argue Doc as I see your point also. You've got a great project going , keep us posted. Mike

I like the crack about aftermarket filters too. You really think Case Ih or agco make there own filters? And CAT filters are not "aftermarket"

I don't think ANY manufacturer actually makes their own filters, but they do set the specs and oft times will-fit filters are not spec'd exactly the same.

Also, seeing this is the PRIMARY oil filter and only filter on the Cat D6D Dozer of ours with a oil change interval of 250 hours. I feel that having this as the By-pass filter on a tractor that has its oil and primary filters changed at 60-70 hours and by-pass filter at 120-140 hours will be more just as good as the "FACTORY" filter.

Well, got it bolted up to the Bellhousing today. Got the turbo and injection lines on too. Got the frame rails all cleaned up and ready to put on. That's tomorrows job.
On this pic, you can see that you have to grind out alittle on the front plate for the rack cap. Still is sealed good by the gasket. Edited by peterson - 13 Apr 2015 at 5:42pm |

Why do you have the injectors in 1/4 turn off? Unless the tips are drilled to be in 1/4 off you will loose power , smoke, and be hard to start. MACK

Sorry for no update guys, been working on it off and on. Got the throttle to work like factory. Got a new cable for it and had the adjust the linkage under the console to idle the engine properly and shut it off too. Been trying to do alittle field work also. Also took the front pivot off the front axle to have built up and remachined to spec. Plus ordered new hardened washers and bushings for it also. Should hopefully have that back by next week. Got new hoses made for the oil cooler up front also. Might as well do it while its readily accessible. Also not goin to put the fuel tanks on right away, going to pressure wash the whole thing underneath when it gets pulled outside.

I like the CAT filters have read a lot of good about them. Even put the conversion kit on my Duramax to run the CAT fuel filter. Also like the thread you got going here.

No, already knew that filters are made by outside sources. Just saying that aftermarket filters aren't the same micron rating. Had a customer put a wix filter on a mx240. Brand new filter and engine would missfire under load and throw fault codes. Put the right OEM filter on it and it ran just fine. And have 4 duramax trucks at home. All winter long they would push half a quart of oil out the side of the filter on cold starts. Put the OEM filters on and it quit. Filters were to restrictive, and all that does is either open the bypass or starv the system. Just because it fits doesn't make it right.
