Just got a 7000 maroon with 5500hrs, reverse gear is chewed up and shifter is brazed as well as the lugs for reverse 1&2 3&4 are brazed up too...
any suggestions about fixing it well? overall its in decent shape, not getting fuel past the pump.

If a new reverse idler gear, which can be done from the top, won't fix it, you're in for a major project and expense.

When you replace the reverse idler, it needs to have the bushing honed to the size of the shaft. Need to take off the shift cover and the rear end cover (have to remove the shaft retaining plate from that end, and I believe the shaft slides out to the rear). As far as the shift forks, I couldn't tell you on that. If they are built up and sized correctly, I'm not sure I'd be too worried. Otherwise, a good used set of forks would be your next option.

Have the gear ordered, glad to know it can be done from the top... does the rear housing need to come off too?

Pump could have metering valve stuck or pumping plungers stuck. Metering valve can be freed by removing top cover. Pumping plungers is a complete teardown. MACK.

The lift arm housing doesn't need to be removed.

so i assume i have to drain the fluid. on p164 agco looks like there is a plug and then a bolt with a lock. I assume u have to undo the bolt and remove the lock and then slide shaft rearward ? and then get the gear out? or does the shaft move out the front?
Many thanks for everyones help!

I am digging from the back of my memory, but I feel like I pushed it to the rear and left it in the housing and pulled the gear out the transmission top.

pin in a 7000 is a press fit. Use a hydraulic cylinder from a E Gleaner variable speed and grease gun to push it back. MACK

Mack, you are sooo right! shaft was in there very tight, used a small homemade hydraulic ram and grease gun and pressed the shaft out the rear. took the lift housing off. the new gear from a&I was sized correctly and went on nicely. glad to have reverse again. The injection pump had seized delivery valve, shutoff valve and plungers. got it all unstuck and back together and it runs great now. one more brought back.
