Below is a pic of combine #2 I am working on.

This one is not a "frame off" like the other...I was hoping to save the seperator sheet metal.  However after blasting this metal is too far gone. Will need to be replace.  This color is actually a powder coat.  Yeah I know its not a good covering and the wrong color.  But it is only serving as a "primer"; the whole machine will be top coated with the right color.  the blasting guy doesnt wet paint--only powder coats.  Real cheap; the stuff on the trailer and a couple boxes of parts ran $500.00

The other machine hasnt progressed much as far as putting parts on.  After a 2 month delay for reasons I wont go into, I am waiting on sheet metal and prepping the parts that will go on.

BTW Both machines will have a new grain pan with cleanout door...cant wait to get them and show..$400 each.

On that one:

"The other machine hasnt progressed much as far as putting parts on.  After a 2 month delay for reasons I wont go into, I am waiting on sheet metal and prepping the parts that will go on."

I had to sit on it for about 6-8 weeks as I had issues with the company forcing me to sit on it for a while. Just waiting for the sheet metal to arrive to really get some things on it.

Maybe it is the pictures, but I'm curious why anyone would powder coat with out doing any bodywork first ?

I think the answer is right there. The guy that did the blasting doesn't wet paint only powder coats. If you had a set of sheet metal blasted and it had to set around waiting for anything, it would end up being completely rust covered. I also wonder how much bodywork a guy would want to pay for if he wanted his combine rebuilt so he could use it.

Correct. There is not going to be any "bodywork" done on it..good metal with pits will remain as such.  This coating is more or less a primer to keep it from starting to rust again. The intent was to put parts back on then top coat it.  Next time I will get it powder coated grey so there is no confusion LOL!

Thanks, I have been thanked many times; it is heartening and helps keep ya going.

I almost bit off more than I can chew doing two of these; my summer is all accounted for.

One of the more knowledgable I will admit, but learned and still learning a lot from others!

Thanks for the kind words...

Might as wwll let the cat out of the bag now...but the company "Yaz-Serv" is going bye bye..A particular bank has made keeping that business going pointless.  (give the banksters hell Lonn!)  But thanks to a generous customer, I was able to secure funding to start up another company as transfering assets from one company to another would be illegal in this case...New company is Keystone Agronomic Services.  There will  be a new website, will have it up just as soon as I can find the time to install.   www.allcropharvester.com

Thanks...

As I drove back from picking up parts at Fred Wilke's this morning and on my way to work (5:00 AM wake up), I realized in May alone I have had 10 parts spec'd and made, ordered about a couple dozen NOS too, torn down a bunch of assemblys, and cleaned up the several dozen parts for re-use, made three combine on trailer hauls, had 2 batches of powder coating parts prepped...picked up a load of cylinder bars at the freight depot and have shipped out 3 sets thus far, (two more tomorrow), took and filled parts orders, 4 trips to fastenal for hardware, reworking the new website, 1 piano recital, 1 school music function, 1 fundraiser activity for the kids, cut the grass twice, and worked my full time job...and even found a few minutes to poke Lonn...

..looking forward to some downtime...
