I have purchased an All Crop 72 and will need to transport it home approx. 90 miles. I pulled off one of the tires to replace it due to sidewall wear and found that the bronze bushings are in bad shape, the hub was very loose on the shaft. I'd like to upgrade the axle and hub to one with bearings for longer life and easier transport. Would anyone know the dimensions of the stock axle stub that I can use to find a heavy duty replacement? It would save me a trip out to the machine to take the axle off to measure. Has anyone done this type of change/upgrade?

Great-grandpa had the local blacksmith weld on hubs from a 1939 Ford car to his/my 60A. He kept the old axle stubs and just welded the new hubs on them. I don't know how he did it, but everything is straight as an arrow with no wobble.

if you can find a 72 that's been wrecked the later ones had actual bearings and hubs, yours must be an early machine, I have one with bushing style hubs and I think serial number is 12** my dad has one with wheel bearings, his also has cream colored wheels, auger and reel and has newer decals, mine is entirely orange and old style decals. im curious on what serial number yours is
1-B's, 2-C, 2-CA's,2-WF, 1-WC,1-G, 3-WD's, 2-WD45, 1-RC, 1-D17 Diesel, 1-D14, 2-D15,1-D17 row crop,1-D19 gas and All Crop 40,60,66,72,90 and 100

I have a pair of NOS 6 bolt hubs with stub axles available. I could email a picture of them to anyone interested in them.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.

I noticed that from the factory parts manual that the earlier ones had bushings and the later ones had bearings. I was hoping I had the later series but no luck. This one has the factory pickup head as well as the reel and has the crop lifters. I'm hoping all the brackets are there for re-mounting the reel but it's hard to see with the pickup mounted. Unfortunately, winter is here so if I can get it home, I'll start digging into it in the spring.

Does your set have bushings or are they the later ones with bearings? I'd maybe be interested if they were the later ones with bearings.

Another option would be to go to a place that sells trailer parts as they will have axle replacement stubs/bearings/hubs/wheel rims etc.  If you went that route you could even install electric brakes.

Go Online to Shoups part, you can buy axle stubs and hubs for wagons and similar applications that you could weld on.

Ok... silly idea...but could you make a 'dolly' from a trailer axle and some steel? Raise the unit up, slide under, 'secure', add wheels, away you go....
I'd make it out of tubing,with left 'beams' sliding into the right 'beams', overlap say a foot or two. That way you can adjust for tight width.beams are welded to 2' sections of tubing, axle gets bolted to that 'end piece.
A newbuilt dolly could be stronger and more stable than stub axles. Springs could be an option for a smoother ride,esp. if you use a drop axle.
The dolly can be disassembled once you get home OR made available to the next guy who needs to haul an All Crop 72 !

I have stub axels and hubs from a 90 combine and 66 combine.They are bearing type. NOt sure if they will fit. 785-353-2392

Here is the pair of stub axles that I have available. They accept the standard AG 6 bolt rim. The round part of the axle is 1-3/4". The hubs have a grease fitting and roller bearings.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
