I have a 60 gallon Ingersoll Rand SS-5 compressor that is about 8 years old. Very little use and well maintained. Every thing was great until the last week. It runs as it always did until it reaches around 100psi in the tank and then it falls on its face and the motor bogs down and the belt even starts slipping!! If the breaker doesn't trip after about 10 seconds of this belt squealing it will pick right back up u til it shuts off. Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance, Ryan

Have you drained the water from the tank recently ? Have you replaced the belt and adjusted for proper tension ? Any slipped belt will become 'glazed', so not as 'grippy' as it's supposed to be so when the motor sees extra load( 100 PSI), it'll 'stall' out. Not the right 'engineering' terms but...hopefully you get the drift.. Jay

I relocated the factory drain valve so it is out front and it is drained after every use. The belt seems as tight as it should be. This issue just rapidly started happening and I am needing advice before I call the company. Ryan

I wonder if the check valve that is after the compressor and before the tank is operating correctly?

I agree with the check valve issue, it is getting some back pressure above 100 psi and the pump is trying to push against a closed/part closed valve. Could be a broken or corroded spring that all of a sudden let go, I imagine that would be an fairly cheap part.
