July 26 (Reuters) - Agricultural equipment maker AGCO Corp said on Wednesday it would buy Monsanto Co's farm equipment business for an undisclosed amount. The deal comes after Monsanto, the world's largest seed company, terminated in May its agreement to sell the unit, Precision Planting LLC, to machinery maker Deere & Co, amid regulatory pressure. The U.S. Department of Justice had filed a lawsuit to block the sale, arguing the deal could make it more expensive for farmers to use fast, precise planting technology. well, lets hope they dont use the tech to ruin the exisiting planters. Offer it as an option package maybe, but there is a reason many people use a White, and that is because it is not a vacuum planter like a JD that needs all the precision stuff to be somewhat accurate.

Hope it doesn't go like john deere buying out Hagie. The neighbor who put nitrogen on my corn for me was telling that the salesman from hagie had a system and knew which guys to sell new to then take the 2 or 3 year old machines and what guys wanted them and so on. But the neighbor who gets a new one every 2nd or 3rd year says he hasn't even had a salesman come and visit.
