WHITE MM rear end - White cab, 466 engine, Funk (deere) (same as some NH ) tranny's.
We had less issues out of these than the 8200 MF's... There were upgrades along - no re occurring issues. As to parts, as with any 30 some odd year old tractor, there are some parts NLA new but there are several salvage yards to source from. Engine parts are not an issue.

They were a NAVISTAR engine, never used in any farm tractor until AGCO bought them from Detroit, who bought them from Navistar and were sold as (series 40) the baby-brother to the Series 60 Detroit. This engine was NOTHING like the DT-400 series IH used in farm equipment. Series 40's were DT-408----DT-466----DT-530 in displacements. AGCO never bought any 408's.

I have a 9675. Has about 4500 hours on it. Been a great tractor, cab is pretty good and plenty of power. Trans controllers had some issues is these models, but thats the only major complaint Ive heard about them. 9675 will have the 530 cube 40 series detroit in it.

From what I was told the Funk tranny they used was similar to was in the Genesis not the same as. Just like the Genesis tranny was similar to the 8x00 Deere but not the same. |

The Genesis tranny and the AGCO tranny were very similar in design, with Genesis being 16 speeds and AGCO 18 speeds. The Deere 8000 transmission was a completely different design because of how it was mounted in the chassis. Some internal components may/probably were identical between all three, like clutch discs/plates, etc. All were built in the Funk factory in Coffeyville, Kansas.

It's only confusing because people are confusing apples with oranges. The ACGO 9600 and White 6100 series were basically the same tractor with different engines. Parts between the two were pretty much a match on both ends of the HP ranges (except engine parts).
The 9400 and 9700 seres were Massey tractors. Nothing in common but the name and the color.

I just meant the whole “x sold to y who sold to z who rebadged it to xxx” thing, more amusing than literally confusing. That, and the first place I looked said it came with a Cummins! Edited by Tbone95 - 14 Jul 2023 at 7:17am |

The tractor I’m considering has a lot of hours on it (9000+), but the claim is it’s been all easy non farm hours. A lot of tractor for me money but…. Nearest Agco dealer is a long way away, don’t want to be making the trip often.

Agco worked with Funk as did NH as stated. The large Deutz engine in Funk test determined some beefiness was needed to handle the torque of the 513 engine - some of which pulled WAY, WAY more than the specs. The first trannys had a straight cut input gear that was the weakest link in the long term wear chain. They are NLA but we worked with Heitman Tractor salvage to reverse engineer some. The latter 9815 and other liquid cooled power plants seldom compared with the Deutz unless 'messed' with. We sold 3 to a clay mining business who hulled out the input gear. The customer said it would outpull the other two. After repair we dyno'd the unit - our big M&W would not hold it - pulled the tire off the ground. First and only time a customer requested to 'turn it down' . 225-230 were #'s not uncommon.
