Hi Guys...
I am restoring Dad's '53 WD he bought new and got the engine started...couldn't wait for the sheet metal....what a great feeling after all these months! Purrs like a Singer Sewing machine. I am adjusting the rockers and running warm I have .008 tite on the valve side. Is this OK for engine this old? Compression is running 96 to 100 all cylinders. Also have the float valve leaking altho I very carefully assembled the new kit. Can I bend the float a bit to tighten the seat? Thanks...you guys helped me thru this whole thing just by my reading all the post's here over the past couple years...just great! TP |

well its not what the factory recommends but it will be allright . it makes for more valve lift so the motor thinks it has a larger cam.

If you have a solid fuel needle and not rubber tipped(viton) then you will need to lap it into the seat. Tightening the float will only lower the running fuel level and do little to stop gas flow when shut off. I use a basic valve lapping compound then wash everything very well and reassemble.
