Hello friends.

I Will be draining my transmission/ steering fluid for a changeover. Would a pre drain flush additive like Sea Foam Hy Tran flush help clean the system and valves prior to dumping fluid or is it a waste of money. I have a HD16DC. Not sure when a complete fluid change was done if ever. Thank you

I’ve have flushed my system. With diesel fuel and run the pump and clutch several times, then drain it all out and change filters and add new oil. I flushed the trans system because of several years of still standing, and therefore condensation and dirt.

I will not recommend you to be a “can” mechanic and add all sorts of addictive in good oil.

So long as machine is well warmed, the oil is allowed to drain fully and fresh fluid/filters installed should be no need for additive.

Hahaha spoken like a real mechanic to a filters and fluids kind of guy.

Thanks Morten, and I agree with ya. I'm not an otc additive kind of guy. Tractor sat a very long time with little or no maintenance done. Just thought system could use a good cleaning followed by Fresh fluid and filters.
