Will the light PTO shaft Weasler brand sold at tractor supply and F&F

be strong enough for MY WD 45

I will be running a 12" pellet mill at 300 rpm. I feel it will be OK under normal conditions but will it snap if the mill jams. No one seem to know the max HP rating of this shaftI can not understand their site.

Thanks Bart

Is there a slip clutch or shear bolt on the mill?  Whats the horsepower requirement for the mill?

No slip clutch or shear pin! HP rating 30-85 on the mill

What I really need to know is the rating of the PTO shaft or any experiance anyone has with that one

From experience a full load will twist so that telescoping ability will be damaged.  Hope this helps.

once you take all the shielding off all 540 PTO shafts are 1 to 11/4" square tubing sliding over a solid center. You'll break the PTO gearbox on your WD 45 before you break a PTO shaft. Better make sure ther is a shear bolt or slip clutch in the drive line someplace. The TSC PTO shaft on my post hole digger will stop the tractor at idle if the auger jams and the shear pin breaks if it's powered up. Went to the TSC site in FAQ they answered that the Weasley tri lobe shafts are rated at 36 HP. Mine still works great I have broke the shear bolt twice when I hit a buried steel building and a buried concrete foundation.

That is correct, it is the lightest shaft they make.
