Well, are you saving them? I hope at least the snap couplers made it into the back of your truck. I see at least a set of front rims/hubs/power director, engine internals etc. that might be worth saving on that D14?. If I had the opportunity, I would buy it for the scrap price, take off anything savable and you can get most of your money back bringing it back once the good stuff is robbed. still can't believe that some people will take tractors to the scrapyard whole like that.

Yes, I did remove the snap couplers and saved them from a trip to China. The loader was really straight, not a weld or break to be found. Hard telling what the loader would have brought if sold at an auction. The wide front looked good too. The fenders were rotted, and the sheet metal either gone or banged up. The radiator had been broken out, the water pump broken off, manifold broken, etc. If I had a need for D17 parts, I would probably still be out there wrenching. The yard sells outgoing stuff for 30 cents a pound or $600 a ton, so buying the whole thing wouldn't be cheap. I don't need the snap couplers (my Allis is too old), so if anyone needs them, feel free to contact me. I also took pictures of a Huber Maintainer sitting about 50 feet away from the D14. They are posted in the Shops, Varmints... section of this site.

I did not. If anyone is interested in saving the old gal, the yard is Mullins Salvage in Jeisyville, Illinois, (217) 237-4343. As I mentioned in a related post, outbound stuff sells for 30 cents a pound or $600 a ton.

I would pay them that much if they would carefully remove the loader and brackets.I just do not want to have to do all that work and then pay them top dollar on top of that. I will call over tomorrow and see if they would come down on price per pound. Maybe as heavy as it is they may budge a little. Anybody know how much a loader, brackets and cylinders would weigh ? 1000 lbs.?

$600/ton...A D17 weighs what..4000-4500 fully equipped?? this isn't all there so wouldn't weigh that much. so, at most 1200?? not really all that bad to save a D17 from gettin' crushed! this really ticks me off!

You're right, it's a D17, missed the shifter handle looking at it the first time. Still some good parts on there, the snap couplers being the easiest to remove.

Only with weights and or fluid would a D17 weigh 6,000#. My brother's weighs less than 4,500# with out stripping it and him on it. Used to pull his and my D17. Mine with fluid and no other added weight with me on it weighs just over 5,800#.

Called the salvage yard this morning as I was too busy during the day yesterday. The man who answered the phone said someone from Red Bud Il. had bought the whole thing and was coming up to pick it up. Oh well you snooze you loose. Would have liked to have gotten the loader and front end. Any one on here from Red Bud?

How much are you looking to get out of the snap couplers? Do they work?

Day late and a dollar short everytime, dustin Also he was rather proud of it or atleast that is the way he acted, kept saying they were junk and hadnt ran for about 8 years, oh well cant fix stupid I guess
