Everything OK with you all?  Haven't seen a post for a while.  How's the building coming? Any new AC toys?

John, Thanks for askin , and since you ask. My wife and I took a vacation. I had to promise before we left that I would not contact any of my forum member friends while we were traveling. (really, really tough not to do, especially with where we went, sorry guys) Our bucket list has included Mt Rushmore,Crazy Horse and all the National Parks in the area. It happens that a friend of mine had a cabin near Rapid City S.D. (20 min. from Mt Rushmore). We traveled 3 days to get there. Jackson Hole was 3rd day out. We had planned on going through Yellowstone, but the south entrance was still closed. Went to Grand Tetons National park, Jackson lake and out to Casper, Wy. Got to our cabin near Rapid city and stayed 4 nights, traveling in different directions everyday to see everything. (my only AC sighting was a HD6G loader in Hill City S.D. with the bucket up and a new radiator being installed, the day I finally stopped to administer help they were gone). So we left Rapid City and went out to Kansas City,Kan. to visit my wife's 96 year old aunt(who could still pass for a healthy 80).Got to Sioux Falls and opted not to drive into Minnesota (just so I could say I've been there). We got back to Denver last Friday night, just could get to Niwot, maybe we should have cut through Nebraska to find Shameless and I know Darrel going to say I was only 1 state away. I think we got out of Denver one day before that last ugly storm hit. I had my laptop, so I monitored the forum. So we had a wonderful trip, I don't do these to often.

So back on the AC front, this is what is coming. While I was gone my brother was able to buy an HD16D farm tractor, for parts. Doesn't run,but it would be a donor tractor. He also procured about 20 new HD16 rollers in a different auction lot. It was an online auction here in the Sacramento Valley about 2 hours away. He used an HD15 (that we didn't bid enough to win) to push it on.

We will be going to the bay area to pick up a 17000 AC engine that a company now is going to give us. It's not Carb Compliant for California and needs a turbo. I tried to help them find parts last year and he emailed and said "we needed it more than he did"

The grapple tractor that I recently posted pictures of may get a facelift and new undercarriage and go to a logging job. If it does it will be very well photographed for the forum. We're also trying to come up with a loader for the same job.  Options are the HD12G (which is an overkill) or a 645 loader. I have a call into a friend who has 2 645s that he told us to come and get last year.We sold him the first one 30 years ago,he acquired another one later. (there both tired and have been sitting for years) I think he has a FR15 to load logs with now.

I also today started the TL30 to take back to the yard to use. It might also go to this logging job for a photo op.

Also today my brother talked to the party that has the HD20 with the wood rats nest in it. They were going to get it going for us to come pick up. It looks like we'll be going to try to get it going. (oh what a surprise).

We have a HD15G loader that we have to go get, about 1-1/2 hours away. Doesn't run, we'll probably haul something over there to push it on.

But, first things first, I got the hay swather out and serviced today. I'll be mowing hay tomorrow.  We have a bunch of calves to mark and septic tanks to make and deliver on Monday. (you know that whole day job thing) It sure interferes with our AC fun.

All the red building frame is up. All the cross rods and cables are in place. We'll be having our guy come and help us square it up. Then it will be on to the door frames. Then siding and roofing. It will probably be on the back burner now for the summer.

So what do you think? nothing going on here.  LOL

Shoot, Mel. If I would have known you were that close, you could have come help me put my HD5B together! You were only 100 miles away. 😉

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. My wife knew that I would stop and visit with everyone that I went buy or got close to. (but we would have had your HD5 up and running by now) So I had to travel in stealth mode. I wasn't even going to mention it,but since John ask, I felt compelled to speak.

Sounds like you had a GREAT trip!  Sometimes you just have to listen to your other half and often it is the right thing to do after all.
I imagine there are lots of opportunities to pick up non CARB complaint machines out there, AC and lesser brands probably cheaper as people don't want to put much money into an older machine that parts are getting harder to find.  Can smaller farms, excavators, etc. still use non CARB complaint equipment?
This area is still a month away from hay cutting, although I notice some real bad cheat grass infestations in some fields that would make good haylege if cut soon.
Write again when you aren't so busy!  We all enjoy hearing of your exploits, just as we do with Shameless - but different.....

Ha, ha, Mel. Same reason wife keeps me on a short leash when we go somewhere there might be tractors, or someone that likes old tractors.😄

Gee, Mel. You were only one state and about 4 hours away from me. You could have arranged it on the sneak, so that we would have just happen to bump into each other in Rapid City or something. LOL! I love the black hills of SD. I try to get there once or twice a year. Darrel
