I have a HD 9 Dozer and need to replace the Left Brake band. I have tried to get it out but im having no luck. Can Anyone help me?

    Look on the outside of the final drive housing at about top of track level. Should be two pipe plugs with square holes, try to unscrew, if tight heat with torch and let cool, then remove.  Get a 5-6 " 5/16 NC bolt and pin that holds band to activation lever should be in line. there will be threads inside of pin.  Screw bolt in threads and draw out through hole. that should cut the band loose so it can be rotated, then remove pin in center of band and lift each half out.  Might help to fasten a wire to band as it is rotated to help install new band if compartment is full of grease etc. Also losen jam bolt at bottom of brake housing under tractor. New band installed, be sure to set jam bolt to tight and back off 3/4 to one turn.  Service manual has full instruction and pictures.  Pretty simple.
