Here are a few pictures of my D-10 III and D-12 III. The D-10 came from a collector in OH who purchsed it from the original owner in NC. They used it on a tobacco farm. I picked up the D-12 up on my honey moon in NY state. It was picked up from the same address that was written in the front of the original owners manual. It was used with a 2 row front mount cultivator on a vegetable farm. The farm was then turned into a golf course later on. The D12 was used to mow then. I enjoy both tractors. The D12 is my favorite. Thanks Terry for the pictures I wish everybody  would put pictures of their tractors on here. I have a D-10 III that is my favorite tractor but I need a D-12 III to go with it. I would like to find the center lift for my D-10 but I haven't seen any. Thanks again.

Wow Terry, those are two super-nice originals.  Now we know where all the Series III grill guards are (and front weights and mid-mount rockshafts), LOL.

My '68 D12 III was used on a golf course before I purchased it.  I was fortunate that it was mechanically sound and that the sheet metal was in good shape before I started the resto/rehab.

Can anyone clarify if the D12 had a piece of molding around the outside of the grill screen and what year(s) they had this?
Mine had it when purchased, but I have only ever seen a couple of pics showing same over the years.
Getting down to the details on my D12 restoration and chasing verification on a number of items to get as close to original as possible.

Early D-10 and 12 had a flat diagonal expanded metal mesh with three horizontial bars (flat strips of metal) and a black vinyl edging.  The series II D-10 and 12 had the rectangular opening mesh with a cream colored vinyl edging and the series III has the rectangular opening mesh with a metal perimeter band like the larger D series.  Any one of these styles and a hybrid 3-bar with metal trim (instead of vinyl) are available at Norm's Toys 574-342-4545.  American made reproductions.

I sold a Few D-10's - most notable to Ft. McHenry, Baltimore, MD for snow plowing - and was gone before the series III's came out.  They appear to be a great unit.  One I wish I had to sell.  They appear to have many of the most requested features on them.

Thank for the all the posts guys. I am going to put a few sale lit scans on here also. I sure like to look at these. This has to be my favorite picture of a D12 III. (it looks like light soil). Brian and Chad nice tractors. I have another D-10 III that I am working on restoring right now. I hope I can get it to look as nice as your tractors. Bill do they still plow snow with the D-10 or has it made it way to a new owner? Notice the orange wheel wieghts. I kind of have a hard time painting mine orange instead of white. It is a nice plow also. 60 series 3point with dish coulters. I think it would be a better fit behind a D15. But I do think a D-12 III with fluid and wieghts in lighter soil could pull it. This tractor also has the larger tire option. You could also get the bigger tires on a D-10 III. The starter and generator are orange on this tractor. But it still used the white seat back and silver on the front rims.

Great pictures.  What is the shield around the throttle on the right side?  The book shows the shield, but alot of d 10's and d 12's do not have it.

Terry, the 3 bottom plow is a 3-10 plow.  A plow manual shows it with the style of moldboard in the sales literature

Ed, that as you call a shield, is a throttle stop. That slot you see in the side of it has a bolt that you slide to where you want want throttle to stop.

All series three had the throttle stop shield. Most were taken off and lost.

Joe so it is 3 10 inch bottoms? 60 or 70 series?  Thanks. I remeber see a 10 bottom in a D14 book.

The whole right side shield/panel was missing from my D-10 series III when I got it. I have the owners manual, repair manual, and parts manual. None of them show it. Someone from this forum posted a picture of it from their manual, which I copied and inserted in my manual, it's home in Michigan, I'm in Florida.

I've felted it was an option, or came after a certain serial number. Just a guess.

I would like to add that I make the side plates in two pieces which fasten together so that it is easy to remove them for working inside.

Terry, the scan that you posted came from a D10/12 Series III brochure.  I scanned that image and several others for the photo album on my website.  I think you will enjoy the others also:

Even though the weights on the brochure photo are orange, I could not bring myself to put orange weights over the cream wheels.

As Joe mentioned, the throttle shield was standard on the Series III.  My shield is missing as well.  I haven't found one in nine years of searching, although I haven't been searching too hard.  Depending on price, I may be interested if someone decides to reproduce these.  Dusty, I like your two-piece side panel idea (especially on the steering gear side).

Not a series III, think it is a series I. Since pic taken, have added a chrome stack. Love the sound and the very responsive govenor. Expect to take it out with a 2 bottom plow this spring to check out its power. Have rear and front weights that I will be installing.

Just my 2 cents again. In my opinion and a lot of looking and collecting D10's over the years, on a Series III the throttle shield came standard if it did not have a tach. There was no need for it if it came from Fac. with a tach. Just my opinion. Bobby.

My D10 III has a tach, also has a throttle stop/shield.  I know the tach was optional but have never seen anything documenting the stop/shield was optional.
The original owner was a low bid buyer, can't imagine adding a lot of frills and I am the second owner. I believe the stop was standard equipment.

Joe, I love these discussions and learning experiences. I have one Series III with a tach and no throttle shield. The three holes in the side panel were pre drilled and the three screws that holds the shield were self tapping. There is no sign of a screw ever being in those holes. I think that what has been said on this forum many times, AC did not do everything standard. Let us know if you find any more info. Many Thanks, Bobby.

Terry, I may know that person driving the D-12.  I believe he was an Allis Chalmers Sales person who was present at an Allis Chalmers Sales School in N. Carolina I attended in 1960. 
As to the D-10 in Fort McHenry that was 50 more like 60 years ago.  I really don't think they have it yet.  However, the tractor we took in trade was an Internation A with a muffler lift.  A big cyl that got it's lift force from the exhaust gases.  Did not have hyd lifts then.
Somebody should have gotten that.  It was long before the collection bug hit.
