When I joined the forum and went through some of my experiences with AC tractors and a Gleaner, I forgot to mention this little jewel.

My family purchased it new somewhere around 1974, when I was still living at home. It's use was assigned to me.

It is still in use and pulls a 15 gallon spray rig. I used it yesterday.

I guess that is what 40 year old orange paint can look like if you keep it under roof the whole time.

Other than routine maintenance, the only thing I know of that has failed is a ball joint in the steering rod....seen here above the left foot pedal. Was looking around online and low and behold, that part is still available. Needed, as right now it's only held together with baling wire and that ball joint keeps jumping out of the socket.

To get me by as needed when that ball and socket wears out,
I've drilled out the socket and installed a bolt and washers to get the correct link up without binding too much during turns.
Granted, one way turns shorter than the other, but I'm still moving to get things done. HTH.

BTW, I have the 712S model with the headlights in the hood.

I have an AC 712H that I've had just over a year. I recently broke the deck belt and replaced it. Since then I have been breaking the mower drive belt. One today, one yesterday, and one last week. I don't have a dealer in my area so I'm not sure i'm using the right belt. The deck is a 42 inch AC the belts I have been using are 5/8" X 72" . Can anyone tell me the correct belt size machine? I have a manual, but it doesn't say what size or give me a part number.
Thank you for any info you can give..

My 1616H was doing that and eventually I figured out the bearings were rough on the mower spindles. I rebuilt the deck and 5 or 6 years later...... at least that long ago......... still going with no more belt troubles.
