Although I've spent a bit of time rubbernecking this forum, I haven't had the need to post.
I just acquired a 7060. I know it was running when it was parked about 15 years ago because it was being used to power a baler. The owner, my Uncle, passed away and it hasn't been run since. The engine is stuck, but I'm hoping it's what we like to refer to as dry-seized. It has a flapper type muffler cap on it but after 15 years some moisture may have made its way past it. Anyway, my question is; what kind of issues were the 7060's plagued with? This has the 5 speed dual range transmission with what I call a torque amplifier to give it 20 forward speeds and 2 reverse. |

The AC 7060 is a good dependable 161 pto hp tractor offered with a 20 speed PD or 12 speed PS. The maroon belly models with PD, have their gear shift coming out of floor under the dash. In mid-late 1975, AC began offering the power shift transmission. All the maroon were built as follows;
Year. Serial # 1974 1001-1298, 1975 1299-2748, 1976 2479-4581, 1977 4582-5644, The black belly models moved the 20 speed PD shifter to the side console (T- handle). 1978 6001-6788, 1979 6789-7692, 1980 7693-8441, 1982 8442-9142. |

Tractor Serial numbers are stamped into their rear-end housing right above pto.

Sitting as long as it has I would pull the injection pump and have it rebuilt also,pretty good odds that its seized or gummed up real bad with old fuel,do the injectors also.

Thanks fellas.
I just learned there is a small oil leak which will require splitting the tractor to repair. My cousin told me our uncle took it to a local dealer to repair it, but after he got it back it still leaked a bit. I'll wait to see how bad it is. For as much as I will be using it, I may just keep the oil pail handy.

After setting that long, don't take it down the road fast until you have driven it around slow. Range transmission gears some times seize to shaft after setting that long. MACK

Thanks MACK. I probably won't be doing much on it until mother nature realizes we've had enough of her sense of humor, but every tidbit of info will help.

The worst thing 7060 s were plagued with was people letting them sit for 5 years, ha....
