I have a few questions about a 7030 I have a chance to buy a 7030 with a bad rear end just wondering what it would be worth. I am thinking not much. also why would the rear end be bad? The owner said he has fixed it once before, but he is not going to fix it again. We had a 7030 when we were farming and never had a problem and it was our big tractor for a time. I thought the 7000 ser. rear end and transmissions were bulletproof.

Do you suppose there was no maintainance, my 7030 had about 7500 hours of hard work when I got my 8030, never had any rear end issues?

Chris, I think a lot of people are poor at regular maintenence. Fluid and filter changes are not a high priority with some, let alone even checking fluid levels. It wouldn't matter what color tractor or flavor of pickup truck, they just climb in and expect them to work.

That is possible, but what could a guy do wrong other than not having oil in the rear end?

The first thing that comes to mind, this time of year, is condensation. Hytran will only suspend so much moisture. Or buying a used peice of equipment and getting contamination from a hydraulic cylinder on that implement, or not cleaning remote outlets .

Our 7030's hi-lo gear shifter pops out in every gear when you dont throttle it down real slow or stomp on the clutch in time something inside is wore that is letting it pop out and it has ben like that for about 10 years it still gets used for spraying, running augers, drilling some beans, baleing sometimes, mowing hay sometimes, and last year it put on all the anhydres amonia because our 7045 was damaged by the tornado at the time and some of the corn was 6-7ft high!

I had a 7060 toast a LH brake once, probably from rideing the brake while plowing, also had a 7020 go thru a LH final drive also from plowing. Other than that there werent any problems with them. I would say that either it was abused or the first guy didnt fix it correctly.
