Hi,
New member and first post.
I've had a Hinimoto E14 for several years and it has done what I have needed, but I can no longer do what I need without a front end loader.
I'm considering an AC 5020 on Craigslist locally.
Is this price reasonable if the tractor is in good condition? It seems a bit high to me, but I'm certainly not very knowledgeable in this area.
Thanks for any input.

Ken - Welcome to the site. Lots of good folks with lots of knowledege to share. In regards to your question --- Tractor looks to be the 4 wheel assist model , with a loader. If it is actually in good shape, It would be a fair price around my area. In my opinion. I have a 5030, similar tractor that has been just great for us. If it is close to you, that is worth something too. I would certainly think it would be worth looking at and checking it out.

I have a 5020 2 wheel drive if it was closer I would go for it. You will love it just post photos when you bring it home

I think the 5015 thru the 5030 were the same as the Hinimoto tractors.

I plan on picking it up tomorrow morning! :-)
It has manual steering and dang, it's hard with the loader. I picked up the front end with the loader and it steers easily.
Would there be an after market power steering setup for this tractor?

Well, I looked thru a couple of references [brochure/price book] and I cannot find an offering for PS. I agree with C175, how could this not be an option. I see the 5040 was optional PS. My brochure is dated 1982, maybe later it became available. Possibly find 5040 PS gear to install?

Chris - were not the 5040/5050 entirely different tractors? The 5040 was made in eastern Europe???? and the 5050 was made by Fiat???? Don't have my Swinford book at work. Don't see how a PS unit from 5040 would ever work on a Asian made 5020/5030? Just thinking out loud. Mike

NO PS KITS FOR 5020 but there were kits for 5220 5230's . With a lot of work one could be adapted. The 5220 kit came with a pump - the 5020 would have to have a flow divider or belt driven pump as in a automotive unit. The steering cylinder will be over $1000.00 for any of these. Then there is the issue of metric vs sae in adaptors.
There used to be an aftermarket power steering unit for the ole Fords and MF's that I saw adapted on one at a golf course. These were power assist units similar to the 5040's but totally different in each part. The 5040 was a universal tractor made in Romania (romanian roadsters) the 5050 was a Fiat as well built in Italy. These were the same in many parts areas as the Long 460 and 510 and a lot of common items with the New Holland 3010's of later vintage - lot of the cheaper NH's are Fiats in NH clothing as Fiat is major owner of CNH. While I ramble also note the 6060/6070/6080 were Fiat trannys and final drives. (allis had a 5 speed powershift -electric shift - ready for the 6080 when Deutz occupation occured - Fiat lost it somehow , well knowing Fiat I am not surprised. The 5020 and 5015 5030 6140 5215 5220 5230 were Toyoshia units. ( a lot ofthe Nippon tractors look alike as part come from common vendors - even today - Japan isn't that big a country) Beware , the Toyoshia company went bankrupt or whatever one does in Japan. As to management of Toyoshia, either they commit hari cari or go to work sweeping floors and cleaning toilets of the ones who bought them out. Whom ever bought out Toyoshia is not furnishing parts for them unless they happen to fit other units. Not a fountain of encouragement am I ?

Pretty concise rundown of that line of AC machine, learned plenty in that read. Sounds like PS on the 5020 is a marginal task at best. I have a nice little belt drive PS pump from a Isuzu trooper that could be a start, maybe.

This is a super late posting to this thread but those of you who still are interested in a Power Steering setup for either the 5020 or 5030...here are some details.
First, I had a 5030 that I just sold last month. I was the second owner. The first owner purchased the unit from Knightdale Tractor in Knightdale, NC. This tractor was pristine and had 560 hours......I sold it for $3,700, which in this economy I felt comfortable with the price.
Anyway, here's the deal. The folks at Knightdale Tractor have a completely new Power Steering kit for the 5020/5030 that they have had sitting around since the mid 80's (my tractor was an '84). They quoted me $800 for the complete kit (installation extra). On top of this, they have a 5020 on their lot which they took as a trade in. It is a 4wd with front load (AC430) and I'm pretty sure power steering. This was all available as of Mid August so for those of you who are still seeing this thread, I believe you can track it down.
