    Posted: 22 Jun 2019 at 7:57am
I have an Allis Chalmers 175, that has 18.4 X 28 tires on it. I found the hole, in the wheel, for the tube valve stem has rusted out big, and I believe I have busted the tube valve stem. I am leaking the tube fluid when the stem is turned down.
A neighbor has tires and wheels, in good shape, that came off a D-17. They are 16.9 x 28.
Will these work on my 175?
Are the wheels the same size with different sized tires?
Thank you so much for your help.

They will fit and work fine! will run a little slower as 18.4's are taller. lots of 170-175's were sold with 16.9 X 28's.

If I had a set of 18.4s and a set of 15" rims, I would mount them up. 16" would be better but a guys gotta work with what you have. I have a set of 16.9X28s that are mounted on 10 or 11 inch rims, that's not so good. Have a set of 15" rims they are going on eventually.

Remember 30” rims on the 185 are only 15” w/18.4’s. I like the wider rim as well but were only available with 28’s.
