My 170 has MS tsx928 carburetor on it. I can only get it to run full choked. Any suggestions?

Id say the jets are stopped up. You wil need to take it off and clean it

Some years ago I purchased a 175 that had the TSX928 that would run only with choke on. To make a long story short brought the carburetor to mechanic who found a recent carb cleaning resulted in the Venturi being installed upside down. Has run great since. Just a thought. Good luck.

I also always put a can of Seafoam in my 170 whenever I gas it up. Helps keep the needle and seat clean. Also recommend an inline filter before the sediment bowl. I added a ball valve shutoff because the one under the tank is not easily accessible. I used a Legend 101-520 1/8” T900.
