I've been told I can switch a 540-1000 pto from a AC7045 into my AC8070.Can this be done? How big of a job is it to do?IWill you only have to go through the back of the rear end where the pto is at?

yes you do it from the back, drain oil, remove bottom plate take lower shaft out and then the upper clutch shaft out as you will have to add the 540 gear in place of spacer, not bad i can do it in about 4hrs but probably 6 or so for first time.

Thanks for all the information. So I put the spacer on the shaft where the 540 gear comes out of the 7045? and then the 7045 will still have a 1000 pto shaft? Would I be wise to buy a used 540 gear and put in the 8070 and just leave the 7045 alone? Thanks again for the help.
