I have painted two 8030s as they were intended with agco orange paint, but I have been thinking about painting the cab of my 8050 black like the modern tractors. I would keep the top and finders orange but everything between black. So what do you think??? Seriously I think it might look good. If guys think its a bad idea let me know before I do something stupid. rieg swoh

What's the worst that can happen.  You don't like it, and paint it back to Orange.  I say go for it, and have some fun.

Well I doubt it will help its looks. Leave it original at least for resale value.

It's your tractor so do as you wish.  I don't think it will look great, but cant assume that either until I see it.  If you do, please post the pics

I have an 8000 with the roof painted new white - functional, breaks up the orange, most do not know... cant see the top - $9.99 puts if back if needed. As to all black...don't know about that... photo shop first...

It'll really "show the dirt" if that matters on a tractor? Guess it's mostly glass so maybe not that big a deal.

Take a used 8000 series toy and paint it first. Print some pictures off of some dealer lit. Color on them. You'll know if you still like the idea.

What is the deal with seeing so many 7030's with the front part of the cab painted black? I have seen several 7030's that way, but I've never seen any other model done that way.

I like that idea of painting an old toy like that to see what it would look like. Good idea unit 3!

Only first year (1973) 7030 & 7050s had the black face cabs. I don't remember the exact reason, maybe for glare. After that, it was probably a cost reduction to just paint them all orange.

I've seen an AC 7000 series advertised for sale that the entire tractor was painted flat black. It didn't do anything for me.

Saw an 8050 in an ad once that had been brush painted black, even the wheels. Looked like it had been used hard an abused.

If you look at all the new tractors and even our 1992 jd the cabs are painted black with the tops and finders the color of the tractor. I have taken a picture and inked in the black basically the doors around the windows and the post. The top including the under part of the top including the filter doors would be orange. I have been putting this off trying to decide. Half the tractor is already painted, hood, grill, cab top, engine and front wheels. Thanks for the comments it has given me some thinking room. Maybe I'll just put it off a little longer and paint the G. rieg swoh
