7580 cab swap?

Ok guys as I sit in the 7580 disking, I can't help but ponder what it would take to graft a 4w cab onto this thing. Are the main frames the same width? Cables and hoods should be easy. Would the electric solenoid high/low valve fit on the original 7580 valve? Or just put the push buttons in the floor? Think it would be cool, and be much more operator friendly!

The 8000 cabs are much wider, so I doubt the mountings are the same.  I don't think the 8000s had the buttons on the floor either.  It's a nice dream, but I think it would take a lot more to get everything to work properly.

PD valve on 4w220 and 8000's is different, and mounts on the side of the transmission instead of the top to make room for the cab.

Are the transmission castings the same. Could one swap the 4w/8000 series valve onto the 7580's? Or to make it simpler, just swap a powershift into it! Lol

the hardest part would be finding an 8000 donor cab cheap enough. They only made 175 220s

Installing a Power Shift into a Power Director chassis will result in a speed reduction in road gear, and all HIGH Range gear selections....about 20% slower in all.

Man that prototype looked sweet. should of just rolled with that. I never liked the 8000 series hood as much

My cousin put a 8000 series cab on a 7040 and it looked amazing you couldn't tell it wasn't factory.

PICS? My idea is to take a 8070 powershift fwa and make it a 7080 open station. Man that would look awesome!!!


Now for putting a powershift into the 7580. According to the agco parts book the powerdirector trans casting is the same between7580 and 7060. So a powershift should "bolt" in. Only thing is the PTO/hydraulic straight shaft is different between the two. So if the 7060's is shorter, have a new longer coupler made to couple the drop box to the powershift. That was my idea.

Wish I could get you some but he bought an 8070, so the 7040 didn't get used much for a couple of years and he traded it in on a new Rowse v-rake. I could of cried when I found out I would have loved to own that tractor.
