Forgive me for being lazy but I can’t find the modification procedure for the Kohlor carb to install on my 720. Dremel tool mod for the intake horn I think? Thanks for any help in advance.

I have the engine timed on the money, she runs great, just need to know the final step. Horizontal cut of the top right hole? Bottom hole vertical cut? Can’t remember and can’t find the instructions! Dang it!
How deep to make the cut and if I’m correct?

Thank you Rod!! Just what I needed.
Steve, we finally got some rain. 4.20” within 24hrs. 2” of it was a nice steady rain that really soaked in, the other was a massive downpour but thankfully no wind. River and creek came up but caused no issues and it started receding last night. Stayed within the banks on our farm so we were obviously relieved. Folks within 10 mile radius did have some flooding issues and some are still without power. Thankfully we never lost power.

Finished up the carb upgrade over the weekend. Went well and I am happy with how she runs. A full test this week under load of the belly mower will prove that it can handle it. Did a short run with the mower and it did fine but want to do a full 1 1/2 acre test before I call it awesome. Did a compression test after installing new head gaskets after cleaning the carbon out. 112 psi so I’m tickled with that. Leak down test also showed no issues in the engine. Only has 689 hours on it

I think more 4041 uses less gas with the carb change and it runs better

Onan’s like to drink gas but power takes fuel! If it uses less fuel then a great bonus, I don’t want to be down on power though. I will find out tomorrow.

Worn engines will burn more gas also. I have a 10hp Kohler that burns oil terrible and also will burn a full tank of gas mowing the lawn (2.5 gallons) and I also have a 14hp kohler that I fully rebuilt ( bored .020” over, crank turned .010” under and the head shaved) and I can mow the lawn 2.5 to 3 times before refueling on the same gallons. Sorry, I had to add my 2 cents… lol

Still having issues getting the 720 running properly, even starting. One day it started and ran great, next day it won’t start only sputters. Beginning to think I have another issue. Timing is spot on, new Onan points and condenser, spark plugs, Onan plug wires. Fuel pump conversion last year. I do notice what I think is weak spark. Tested the coil per the manual and it ohms right where it should. I guess I could pull the coil off my other 720 and try it. Is there something I’m missing? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Still using the OEM ignition switch? That could possibly be the problem. I know when I talk to customer's over the phone about weak spark, running issues, and melted ignition switch plugs with these model Tractors, that junk ignition switch comes up quite often. I've had a few customer's replace that switch with my "real" ignition switch, and they said the engine runs so much better in the machine. Some small mods need to be made to install my switch, but till someone or something comes up that's better, for now, this is a big improvement. Makes me feel good as well as excited to know the new products I've been releasing for these models are working out well for our customers. The Onan Stater charging system isn't the best either. I'll be working on something for that this Winter...  Steve@B&B

Good point Steve, hadn’t thought about the key switch. Now that you mentioned that I replaced the one on my other 720 about 10 years ago. Will give you a call tomorrow.
