It is something how the 7080 came out in 1976 I think,  the 4840 I am not sure of, but the 5488 came out in 1981.  7080 is way ahead of its time.  It would be much more fair to judge them against a 8070.  I may have to eat my words on the 4840 but I think the 7080 is much older.

The 7080 black bellies would whoop them all. I dont think it needs a power shift, just put it in a gear and roll. I pull a 36 ft 1300E field cultivator 7 mph in hill ground with singles and doesnt even seem like there is anything behind it. The only thing I would want different about it is for it to have FWA. If it had that, I would put it up agaist a MX 255 case, pretty shure I could out work it. The 7080 is just about my favorite tractor and will defend it till I die.

8070FWA,7080 BlackBelly, 7045,2 200s,D19,D17,G, WD,45,UC,7 AC mowers and lots more!

7080 might lose based on the over reved engine alone and a 5488 is newer than the 7080. Comparison should be 8070, 4650, and 5288. Allis 8095 never made it to market due to finacial problems. In that case I chose..............take a guess.
