Found a 7040 powershift trans that is good wondering what if any modifications I wouls have to do to put it in a 8050 powershift is there different gear ratios or they all the same through the years his trans only has 2nd gear and is leaking oil out of the front seal     Any help will be greatly appreciated   Gary Roidt  920 253 8192

Unless it's a late model 7040, the rear clutch pack bolts that retain the gear are 3/8" diameter.....I'd hate to use it in an 8050FWA, but it should fit and work without a problem. Use the valve off of the 8050..much better design. All gear ratios in the PST are the same. Take a look at the way the FWA side frames bolt to the front of the bellhousing under the oil pan on the 8050......there might be a couple holes that a 7040 doesn't have??? look and be sure.

Thank You very much this tractor is a 2 wheel drive so bolt size should not be a problem
