Hi all. I am a new member posting for the first time. I have read the forum as a quiet guest for a few years and have learned a lot from you all about the orange tractors. My son has a 7030 that needs the powerdirector clutch rebuilt. We were wondering if one from a 7060 would be the same. We know where we could get the whole transmission from a 7060 that is good. I already have his tractor split and I can see exactly what he needs. He just turned 20 and is trying to build up to have some more cows and get his own place. Money is tight for him ( as it is for most folks). The parts for the clutch are kinda pricey, drive plates and discs. I know the ideal thing would be to rebuild his but if we could do a swap it would get him back in the field quicker. Sorry for being so long winded. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I would find some good used ones if money is tight. Are they warped or burned? MACK

The plates are burned for sure, they are blued up pretty good. I honestly didn't check for warping after I saw all the bluing. 3 of the discs are bad. The other 3 look good.

Welcome to the forum. Like Mack said, good used parts should be plentiful. While the 7060 clutch assembly would work, I wouldn't take a chance of just throwing it in with out going through it and freshening up the seals first.

Also 3 of the belleville washers were broken in pieces laying in the bottom of the case, another is cracked so all those need replaced as well. There was also what looked like needle bearings laying in there, but I don't see where a needle bearing would be, and the parts book at the AGCO site doesn't show one in the assembly.

Thanks for the welcome. I agree with you Lynn. The one from the 7060 is supposed to be good. I know it would be considerably cheaper to put new seals in if all the plates and discs are ok. He's looking at 800 just for 3 discs and the 6 plates new, not counting all seals and those washers. We could get the whole transmission for a 1000 or maybe a little less even, seller says best offer. We are looking to aquire another tractor next year too, Allis is preferred of course. But we want to keep this one and use it too. We aren't big time farmers by no means, but it would be nice to have this one on the discbine and another on the baler, or vice versa.

The parts from the needle bearing are probably from the one that goes inside the smallest hollow shaft that engages in your power director, which is number 5 in the attached photo. When I did my 7050 the bearing fell apart into the power director too. ![]() |

Thanks Wayne, I bet you are 100% correct. I haven't tore it completely apart yet.
