Please excuse the paint colors!!!! 4440 John Deere Injector Pump= Stock Turbo HX40 from 8.3 Cummins= Works Very Good!!!! Injectors are stock Bosch Injectors. Fuel is Maxxed out on stock pump, runs very hard for what it is. Makes about 40 pounds boost, with a little fire out the top of pipe!!!! |

Thats a nice looking tractor. Im wanting to build one based off of a 7030, and start out pulling 10,200# Heavy Superfield. Does yours still have 3pt housing and pto? Would it be possible to get a picture of the back end?

My 3 pt arms are off and drawbar gone. I took a 6080 weight bracket cut in half and welded to my drawbar support to hang weights so i can still use the factory weight locks. I had this tractor below 9500lbs but I had a steel front axle support I made (still have it) and a 5.9 cummins in it. Mine has the 5spd Power Director I can pull 2nd High High and 3rd high High if track is loose with 20.8x38 rubber. Still Very Happy with Tractor. Doesn't sound like AC Engine anymore, it favors a cross between a Deere and Cummins it has lots of Low end Torque which it was missing before the pump swap and turbo upgrade. |

They came off a 7040, I think some 7020's have a smaller axle this one was the same as the 7040. Not sure whats compatible. Just come on down to Lynnville Tn September 22nd to the tractor pull and I'll answer any question I can.

The first thing I would do if yours is a power director is rebuild the clutch pack with new piston seals so it will not have the delayed shift. It's night and day difference between an old unit and a fresh rebuilt one. Every little bit will help. Thanks for all.

Very nice tractor! Are you still using the factory connecting rods? I know they were definetly the weak link in these engines. How hard is it to cut the cab?

I have the 1-3/4 rods with lubricating jets on end and new rod bolts but that is all. Cutting cab was easy sawzall or torch.

If you are really using "stock" 7045 injector tips, they are only .0128" (4 holes) hole size. Tractor will make more HP and your injection pump will last longer if you switch to injector tips with .0200" (4 holes)hole size and set them at 2800 psi. You to have them made, they aren't available from AGCO that big.

I was using the stock ones I have switched to Mack truck tips that have a 9mm tip with the same spray angle as ac, had to drill head out. They are a good running injector, my diesel shop had these on hand. This tractor had the Bosch Injectors from Factory.

hey joe, when you put the mack tiped injectors in the engine, did you turn the injectors 90* in the head? bc if you didnt, your spraying fuel onto the head. Im putting the same nozzles into a set of injectors and i found it out after i bought the tips.

I agree. Be sure the injectors are oriented correctly for the Mack nozzles. This will require a different injector hold down if needed. There are a few different Mack nozzles. You may have one that works without turning the injector in the head.
If you ever get to a point where you have 400 or more cc's of fuel delivery from your pump it will help to dual feed the injectors and nozzles as well. The stock fuel passage diameter through the Bosch injector body is small. Like .062" dia. Your stock A pump is probably no where close to that yet so you should be fine. Excellent choice on the turbo for what you have. Post video when you can. Good luck. |
