Put a engine clutch in my 7000 before chopping corn silage. Chopped with it, then put it on the TMR mixer over most of the winter.

PTO started to not shut off on it, even with a loaded TMR mixer. Seems to be moving the spool. Any ideas or did the PTO clutch get welded together?

Able to plant corn with it as is until I get a chance to split it, of it is the PTO clutch?

Run the silage bagger this spring with it as is?

If the PTO will not shut off - do you mean will pull a load or just will not brake ? Shut off the engine and see if you can turn the shaft via hand - if so - a hydraulic issue - if not - then you have warped clutch plates... Since you stated 'put a clutch' in assume it is a maroon belly - dry clutch. This had a different hyd flow system than the separate valve of the black belly wet clutch.

Yep a '77 maroon belly. It'll spin the TMR mixer with 3000lbs of feed in it with the PTO in the off position

If you crank the engine over (not fire) and the TMR wagon turns with a load in it, I'd say the PTO clutch is fried. If the TMR doesn't turn with a load until a couple of seconds AFTER the engine fires, you have a hydraulic valve problem likely.

Yep it's the PTO clutch.

Split at the rear end/torque tube I take it?

Can I run it on the corn planter and run it on the silage bagger without hurting it anymore till I get a chance to split it?

Other than safety - you are doing it now - suppose no futher damage would occur.

Leave the PTO lever engaged so you don't destroy the brake puck too....!!!!

Thanks! Once I noticed it wouldn't shut off, I put a different tractor on it.

Guess I'll start acquiring parts to replace the clutch. Anything else I should do while I'm in there?

The model "7000" tractor came out in the late summer/early fall of 1975. I've sold a fair amount of them. Not once have i ever had a failure of the PTO clutch or PTO brake. I'd assume all new drive discs wave springs and separator plates will be needed. Beyond that, I have no idea. The million dollar question is WHY did it fail ???

I bought it with 3k hours. Original owner was a small dairy that mostly plowed and pulled a 14ft disk with it. When he retired, it was donated to a church camp that only used it to pull a 15ft batwing mower, but whatever cheap high school help they could get. When I got the tractor it was in pretty rough shape and had been abused at the camp, so I'm guessing inexperienced help with a big mower was part of it.

Also when I went to change it from 540 to 1000 the first time, the 1000 rpm side had been complete destroyed, with the end of the shaft at a point and the spines wore off. So something between the mid 80s and 2017 did some damage to it

I just split a 7000 torque tube for the clutch shaft And pto clutch was fried, it took a lot of force to get pto clutch shaft out of clutch assembly, ended up breaking part of clutch casting, and plate’s still won’t come of is clutch shaft gear

I don't believe that I have ever been into a 7000 PTO either. It's very rare to have any of the 7000 series PTO clutch problems. The 7000 PTO clutch is accessed from the front, behind the foot clutch assembly. You have to split it there.

Yes. A service manual is always a good tool to have.
