Replacing the low range clutches in my 7000, Has wore grooves in the heavy end plate, can I polish the other side up and flip over afraid grooves will ruin new friction plates. Thanks for any help.

I think I would grind the damaged side to smooth. I don't think the front face was ever finished off, was it ??

Check for flatness too. Mine was warped when I rebuilt mine. If you’re working on a black belly that uses it as an inching clutch, they take a beating. In all honesty, if I was doing it again and didn’t find a good low hour used clutch pack, I would get a quote from a local machine shop to make one. I don’t remember there being much complicated about them.

There may be room enough to make it 1/8" thicker, which would help with warpage over time. Machine it down at the O.D. to still use the same bolts, but thicker where the heat actually is.
