Found a 645 loader with a bad wheel bearing.  Any idea what is involved in fixing it and the cost if it is just a wheel bearing?
Talked to the owner this morning, sounds like it needs more then a wheel bearing.  He said he was loading topsoil and noticed oil coming out of the cover place on the right side of the rear axle.  I suspect the planetary gears may be toast.  Said that hub had an oil leak and he hadn't checked the oil in a while.  The machine is about 100 miles away in the mountains and it's snowing there currently.  May go look at, may not. He's asking $6,000 for it.  Low hours on the engine and doesn't leak otherwise.  Is it worth the drive to check it out?

Another thought, I have an older (1965?) 545 with a questionable transmission.  Anyone know if the axles, or at least the planetarys are interchangeable with a 645B?

axles and planetarys likely to be smaller on the 545. They have a narrower track, so the housings will be different. 545 is 2 sizes down from the 645 so all axle stuff is probably lighter.
