Friend of mines 645 needs a crank.  tractor serial 2332  1968 according to what we found.  eng is a 3500 3D-07388.  he says there is a whole bunch of different casting numbers and large and small counterweights.  his crank has 2 dowels but everything he can find doesnt use the dowels.  he was told they had leakage issues and did away with the dowels.  supposedly everything crosses back to a 74028608.  this has cam drive oil pump.

Different casting numbers on the crankshaft? There should only be one casting number and that number is cast onto the crankshaft. If he looks closely he should find a part number stamped on the crankshaft and a serial number also stamped on it. The serial number will have the fewest digits in it. "Large and small counterweights". Is he referring to the counter weights that offset the connecting rod journals? If so those are part of the crankshaft forgings and are pretty uniform in size from one rod journal to another.
I worked in engine assembly (dept 75) from mid 1969 to mid 1974 and every engine that was made used two dowel pins in the rear flange. I never heard of a rear end leakage problem caused by leaks due to the dowel pins.

he can not find anything with the same casting #.  yes i was referring to the counterweights being different sizes for 426 engines.  is there a reason any other 3500 crank wouldnt work?
