Last Spring I bought a 6060, I was assured everything worked....got lied to.  The PTO clutch was seized, engaged.  I could use it, but had to start the tractor with it engaged The forum conscientious was that the linkage was just rusted/seized where the shaft went through the torque tube.  I applied penetrating oil and pressure on the clutch shaft, ran it on my big mower for several hours, pounded on it  and applied more penetrating oil.  Nothing, so I made arrangement to have it split this winter.  Got a call for my mechanic yesterday.  Before splitting it they tried the penetrating oil and pressure route.  But, instead of just trying to rotate the clutch shaft, they drove it back and forth too and kept applying oil.  It loosened up. They hooked it to a dyano and adjusted the linkage and feel it is fixed and going to work OK.    Hopefully, I dodged a $2K bullet.

Thanks to all you guys that helped me with great suggestions.

Learned a trick for starting old, low compression diesels too.  Crank till you get good white smoke, shut if off for a minute and then crank again.  With a little luck it will start.

Bill

Glad you got it working.  It's nice to find a shop that will work with you too.
