Hi all, I am having an issue with the reverse on my mower. I was plowing snow over the winter and one day my reverse gradually got slower and slower. When this happened something in the hydro lever linkage didn't feel right either. I took the fender pan off to look at the linkage but didn't notice anything wrong. Checked the fluid, it was a little low but topped it off with no change. It will still climb a hill in reverse, it just goes really slow and you have to pull the lever all the way back past the stop. Any advice will be appreciated    Thanks, Justin

Justin,
The same thing happened to me.  The hydro lever used to slide back into reverse easily.  Now it really has to be forced back.  I replaced the little bracket with the ball joints.  The speed is increasingly slow.  It makes me think that something in the hydro is wrong.  Hopefully, someone will have an answer for us.  Glen

My 416, exactly the same situation. I found a fix online and printed it out. Something to do with redrilling the linkage at a different spot. Let me dig it up tonight and I will get back.

I haven't done the fix yet, its on my list of things.....

O.K. Here is the link. Go ahead and  read the whole thing, but the juicy stuff is in the middle, a post by cityfarmer.
Looks to me like you are re-making the arm on the hydro lever, making it longer, so it will travel further in both forward and reverse. Seems like a solid idea.

Hope this helps, let me know if it works.
