    Posted: 05 Feb 2011 at 3:24pm

I am installing an (after-market?)  3-pt hitch on an AC-C.

Despite the fact that I installed this same hitch on my AC-B several years ago, I’m unsure how to install the bracket on the bottom of the final drive used to pin one end of the hydraulic cylinder (Fig 2). Yes – I’m getting senile.

Does anyone know how I should install this bracket (fig 3)    Originally I thought I would remove 2 nuts from the 2 bottom studs holding the final drive, slide on the bracket, and then replace the nuts.

However, due to the thickness of the bracket, there are not enough threads left to sufficiently grip the bolt.  In addition, after looking at the bracket assembly again, I realized that it had nuts and bolts already on it.

It looks like the bolts on the bracket are the same size as the studs on the final drive, so I suspect these nuts/bolt  came w/the bracket, and they are to be used in the installation. Do I remove the 2 nuts from the bottom studs holding the final drive on, and then run two “narrow” nuts back on the stud and use these to back out the stud with a wrench?  If not, how do I remove the studs?

If I need to take an entirely different approach, what is it?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Looks to me like you're right about removing the studs. I would think a double nut on there and you should be able to back them out.

Weld the nut to the stud, then just use an inpact wrench to back the bolt and nut out.
On second look, you won't have room for an impact wrench, so it will be knuckle bustin time with a hand wrench

I have a couple of pictures of my 3 point hitch I put on the B that show how the plate bolts on. Send me your E-Mail address either on here or by PM and I will be glad to send them to you.  It is a Cross hitch from Ok Tractor.  Sorry, I haven't mastered putting pictures on here yet.
