I'm going to look at a couple plows tonight the guy has a 3-14 and a 3-16. The 14 has bad points that he welded on to get it to suck and the 16 he said is in good shape and was used last fall. The price is basically the same so that's not the concern.  I am wondering if the 16 is too much plow for my 45. The 45 has new tires and one set of weights with a new engine rebuild. I pulled a 2-16 last fall in third with no problem. I guess if I can't pull it I can always sell it and get a 3-14. Thanks, Doug.

We pulled 3-16 trailer plow with our 45 gas.   Medium soils 7-8" deep.   I'm sure a mounted plow would have even been better.

The 45 is capable of pulling 4-16's when it is new, which obviously it isn't.  If your 45 is in really good shape, it should have NO problem with a 3-16.  Wish I had one, or a 4-14 or 4-16.  I have a 3-14 and I pull with it in 3rd, but I don't have real rich dirt.  Mostly sand.

You would never pull a 4 bottom plow in this part of Indiana with a WD 45 unless you were in sandy soil. I pulled a 4-16 Oliver 565 with my 190XTD III and it made it bark! Most of those promotional photographs were taken in very light soils!
sometimes I walk out to my shop and look around and think "Who's the idiot that owns this place?"

Go with the 3-16. The WD should handle it, and it will pass trash way better. 14 inch plows  can plug a lot more often and really take the fun out of plowing.

Doug, I pull both 3-14" and  3-16" plows with my WD45's They will both do a good job if the plow is  not bent of wore out. Come on down when it drys up some and you pull both plows and make up your mind on what plow you like and then go buy one, heck you can buy one of my plows if you don't get a good for this guy. Don
3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.

I bought the 3-16. It's in great shape everything was greased and free turning with good points, shins and boards for how much?  $150! Now if my wife will let me plow the front yard!
