Ok fellas, I use to post here a few years back but lost/forgot my sign in name and password.
So here it goes, I'd like to know what it takes to drop a 301 diesel into a wd45 chassis. Obviously I'd use a regular wd45 instead of hacking up a wd45d. Is there a special flywheel and adapter plate? I know the hood would need to be extended amd the radiator moved, does the frame to be added onto? I guess what I am asking is what do I all need to round up amd what to expect! Thanks! |

It is far from a "drop in"! Parts are one thing. Fabrication is another.

All the fabricated parts that need to be made are not an issue. I'd like to know what are parts that can be used like a flywheel/clutch setup. If an adapter plate needs to be made, that I can handle.

So, to me it looks like he's using a WD45 diesel starter and maybe a WD45 diesel flywheel?? that has been modified to fit the 2900 crankshaft ?? The 2900 backplate has been reshaped and drilled to bolt up to the WD45 bellhousing. Frame has been lengthened. Hood has been raised taller. Don't know what he did for a radiator.

The wd45 diesel flywheel bolts to the 301 crank with no mods, same oil seal. Just lay a wd diesel engine plate on the 301 plate and mark the holes you need and the shape.

It’s not that hard I did on a wd I have all the adapters and you use the wd starter. You can put the 201 or the 301 in with what I made. The hardest part was putting the bubble in the hood to clear the turbo
