Guys I have a 226 that has been running great oil pressure and now after setting thru winter and spring it has no oil pressure. Any idea's on what could be wrong? I took gauge off and started and ran for short time and no oil out of gauge hole. TIF Gary

Take the filter off, pull stem out, file two V slots across bottom of stem then try if. Might crank it with stem out first. MACK

So what tractor are we talking? WD45 or early D17 with bypass system or newer 226 with full flow system?

This might work, remove the lower line coming out of the block that go's to the oil filter housing (the back line next to the block) and pump some new oil into it, might need to do it two or three times and install the line back on and try that before you go inside. Might be the oil pump gear to camshaft, relief valve, gears inside the pump, pump cover gasket bad, the list of what if is all just a best guess if looking from the outside in. sorry

Full flow would be bad. That's mean the engine is possibly get no oil at all. I'd crack one of the lines and run just for a second and see if you have oil pumping. If not, something flew apart in your pump, if yes, check your filter and base because it must be plugged somewhere.

I have a pre lube tank I got from O'Reilly when I bought a long block from them years ago. It was one of those buy it, use it, return it and get your money back deals they have on tools. I used it several times in 1 week so I just kept it and found another use for it.
Anyway, fill it with oil and use it to prime the system through the oil pressure gauge port. If it takes of and has oil pressure again, maybe all that happened is it lost prime. If it doesn't, it needs opened up and figure out what went wrong. |

As others have kinda said, just go down the line in the oiling system and see where you begin to have problems. Don't run it anymore the full flow will completely starve engine of oil if clogged unlike the bypass system. You should have a good 30 lbs of pressure there.

I'd pull the plugs and spin it with the starter trying to get pressure figured out.
