Hey guys, I've come across a AC 220 with a year around cab on it. The story is the fuel pump went out he had it rebuilt and put it back on but didn't time it. He then had health problems and never touched it again,he said it's sat out side for about 5-7 years ( I'm guessing at least 10) I'm going to go get some pics tmwr. But from what I seen when I was there is the wishbone on the front end is cracked pretty bad in a couple places but that was all I could really tell from just looking with out snooping around with out permission at the time. I'm wondering on what a economical offer would be. He said he's had a couple others offer for it but has been he said "scrap price" and he told me he's not getting any younger and would like to see it go to a good home. But with that said I'm still not holding my breath. But let me know a reasonable offer you guys think and what to look for; and I'll post pics as soon as I get them. Thanks!

Scrap steel is currently $110 per ton for prepared. A 220 weighs in around 6 ton up to 10 ton with max weights. It worth more as parts than scrap price.

Sorry about the size of the pics. I can't seem to resize them on the iPhone. But it is a 1969 I highly doubt the hour meter is right lol. And all the tires still have air in them surprisingly. The motor oil looked like it has just been changed but no way to tell if head or anything is leaking because the coolent has been drained at least to lowest port on the block.

Yes, that is not the correct hour meter for that tractor.  It's always a big risk buying a tractor that has not turned a wheel in God knows how long.  Get it as cheap as possible - engine could be seized after sitting that long outside.

Well with a tractor like that I figure up the parts  I see and their reasonable sale value, the risk
comes in with the stuff I can't see.So it boils down to how bad I want it and how much
I want to gamble which is directly related to how bad I want or don't the tractor.

To me that is a parts tractor only, yes you can restore if you have a thick check book.

You never know I bought a 190XT and a 185 awhile back both had sat for 4 to 5 years
both fired up and ran good first try.Been using the 185 to bale hay, just changed the oil
added some Seafoam and fresh fuel to the old in the tank before I started using it.
220's are rare enough to dump some $$$ into not like its an old WD or something.

Definitely worth saving, but don't pay more than $3000 for it! Less would be better, since it's going to need a lot of TLC! Looks like a 7000 series tach. Looks like it's had some hacking done on it, like the holes in the hood sides, and the hour meter on the side panel. If you could drive it, it would raise the potential value, but buying it as it sits, be prepared to spend some money, and a lot of time on it.

I stopped and looked at that tractor 3years ago. Talked to the old man pretty much same story, he pulled the pump had it rebuilt and put it back on but never primed the system. At that time he was pretty dead set on
8, 500 $. I told him I was no where near that in my mind. He said someone from michigan had offered him that for It but at the time he didnt accept their offer the day two fools met In my opinion!!!!he still had the correct front wheels but I never looked at them.

Allis man that is everything he told me except the offer they gave him. I'm going to give him a call tonight and make an offer and see what he says.

I had 1, 500$ in mind when I was there. You never know it may be a diamond in the rough, but it looked like they used it pretty hard before it set for the last 2 decades!!!! I also had visions of having to haul another tractor up there to facilitate its move.

With the front end cracked I wouldn't assume the best about any of the internal components. Doesn't crack sitting. 3,000 tops and if he brought up the 8,500 offer, I'd smile and say betcha wish u woulda taken that! Goodbye

My 185 had the A frame part of the front end broken and welded back at some point has nothing to do with the rest of the tractor.Think I  had to weld the one on my 180 that was cracking.Might be an
AC weak point.
Does the rear 3pt components fit a D21?

I havent got my allis book in front of me at the moment to know how mny 220 were made compard to the d21, but i think they are in the same value range. Definetly not scrp value. none of these or the 210 were ever sold here because they came out too close to the 7000 models ,and dealers were waiting on them to be released.so saying that for me id jump on one if it was in my area and pay whatever it took, its only work thats needed on this ,it looks complete.

I've enjoyed the conversation on this post.  I'd like to see you get it and it be a diamond in the rough.  At least get her running and in usable condition.  Keep the post going and tell us what happens with your offer.  Good hunting.

hey guys I talked to him and I just went straight to the offer of 3000 and he said no. It'd have to be more I told him that in my current financing with going to school that was all I could do. I've since then let another guy who collects AC on to it, I'm hoping he may have a better chance at saving it. If not it will sit there until a auction. Thanks for all your guys help!

The old mans son was there when I stopped. My guess from life experiences says when the old man kicks the bucket, everything there will be headed to a scrapper. Its too bad the old man didnt take your offer but honestly your probably money ahead leaving her set!!!

Josh, you offered top dollar. Personally, I would not of started that high. There will be a lot of other and better deals out there. My wife always says everything works out for the best. There were many unknowns there and most would work against you in the end. Consider it a  good thing and move on. When I make an offer I always am ready to walk the other way with the knowledge that if there is not even a counter the seller is not ready to sell. You can only hurt yourself if there is no desire to bargain.

I hate when people think they own a gold mine! Since one sold on auction a few weeks ago for $40,000, now everyone thinks theirs is worth that. This was a $3000 tops valued tractor, the way it sits. When it was parked was probably only worth 3000 in running condition. That tractor could potentially be worth $40,000, if he put $30,000 into it!
