Just wondering if anyone had an idea how hard and how much it would be to put a 200ci. four cylinder in a wd-45. I know I need the flywheel and backing plate off a junk wd-45 diesel, and yes I had both 2yrs. ago on a G-230 but let i go when I sold the motor, just wondering how well it would work. I had the G-230 in the tractor but I figured the 200ci. would fit a whole lot better. Thanks for the help.

Well, the plate and flywheel from a 45D won't come anywhere close to attaching to a 433. Any flywheel that bolts to a 433 is TOO large to fit in the clutch housing.
You need a good friend who is a machinest. Edited by Steve M C/IL - 19 Jan 2011 at 7:31pm |

500 fork lifts had 200 ci 2200 AC engines in them as did some crawlers - the flywheels were small as were the clutchs - these were D15 housings.

isnt that the engine that was made like a 301 less two cylinders. Rated at 125 hp. If it is it can be done Buddy Richardson had a 301 in a wd45 once.

In Feb of 2009 I helped a guy set a 433I engine (from a F2??) in a WD45 frame. I was hired to get the engine bolted in the frame and to make sure the clutch shaft alignment was correct and that the clutch would release and work properly. I used a dial indicator attached to the clutch shaft to located the engine and then drilled oversized dowel pin holes to hold the alignment. The engine sat in the tractor very nicely and it looked like it should work great. I did have to do a little torch work on the frame top rails in a place or two for clearence. My job was to just get the engine in the frame and the owner was going to take it from there. I talked to the owners brother yesterday and he still doesn't have it running, but I think it is getting close. |
