Fellows. I think I need to drill the hole in the linkage as stated in the book. I do have a copy of the AC service manual. But it is a copy and the picture is not good. Would anyone be able to post a picture of the linkage where the hole needs to be drilled? My manual shows the measurements I need to use to drill the hole but not the piece of metal that's needs the hole. Thank you for your help.

You basically drill a new hole forward of the existing hole with 1/8" of metal left between the two holes. YOU WILL HAVE TO GRIND/TORCH above this area to eliminate rubbing of the vertical rod when you get done.

I think I figured out which rod/ linkage it is. Do I need to tear this linkage completely out to drill the hole? Are we looking at hours to do this? Like I said the book I have is a copy and pictures are bad. Again thank you guys.

no remove the pin on the valve and the vertical rod, then turn the linkage down to drill it.
