motor oil has too may ADDATIVES to burn.. leaves left over residue.... Use to do that 40 years ago... not really a GOOD IDEA.. Lots of "new" motors are 40: 1 or 50:1 ........ i still use the old 24 or 30:1 ratio... Little extra lube cant hurt.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Same ratio as when using 2 cycle oil. But only use a straight grade oil - no multigrade. mix it real well or you may regret trying it. I have some old manuals for Pioneer saws. They recommended 40 wt engine oil at that time. Again mix real well or you will have a problem! Not much need to do that now as 2 cycle oils are so readily available. I just use snowmobile oil as I have that on shelf year round.

I use the oil specified by Stihl.
Switch from the orange bottle to the silver bottle of Stihl oil.  It is a synthetic.
This oil does not leave deposits in the engine like the orange bottle did.
My Stihl dealer, Pat Potter at Potter Saw Service, Winfield, Kansas, switched me over.  He showed me engines and engine parts with both oils.
I trust his judgement because he has been in the business a very long time.  He has attended many Stihl schools and won awards.

That's good to know. I recently mixed my last orange bottle of oil and was thinking I need to get more then next time I am at my Stihl dealer (who is also my closest AGCO dealer).

I will try the silver bottles.
