Anyone on the forum remember these days? Anybody buy a tractor back then & receive the cash back during the purchase?

After the 1099 's were sent to the first customer - the dealers took it off the price and figured it in the 'deal'. Home office bean counters shook with horror at all the discounts - customers thought it was trivial. In the mid 70's dealers were selling to dealers at 10% off list - no programs - in the mid 80s we were getting 20 % discounts off invoice...

BACK THEN, 23% off list was net - then have to add back freight and set up and delivery. Today it varies wildly . In fact there are items that require a lot of set up that a dealer could lose money on even selling at list!
