Hi I was wondering if these were dependale tractors and if they had any common problems. I will be looking at one this weekend

First thing you want to make sure of is that it is a true series 3, alot were repainted and the decal added and some shady dealers added the decals to the old xt's, the serial number has to be 24,000 or higher it located on the bell housing right behind the engine on the left side. Second if it looks like it had been run hard and put away wet, leave it there, if it looks like the guy actually cared about it they were an awesome tractor. I have my uncles original xt 1970 model been in the family except for a short time that an idiot had it and tried to destroy it, but it lives on and has given no problems. If the guy forced the gear shifting it will jump out of gear usually 3rd or 4th will jump. Your first unpainted inpression will mean alot on an Allis Chalmers, if they look beat they were beat bad!!!!!

We have an XT, and it is a workhorse, and has always treated us well, had to overhaul it once, but that was because of a bad air clamp letting dirt in the intake.
