Finally got my newly purchased old 65' AC 190xt up an running..  what a delight!  I am however now confronted with a leaking pto shifter and cant seem to find a remedy for it..  Drained and filled all fluids and my have overfilled the hydraulic side a bit but the leak is a steady stream/run from what looks like the pto shifter shaft.  Being new to this machine does anyone have any insight they could share???  Thanks.

Inside the tractor is a solid groove pin. It needs to be pressed forward (while the PTO lever is down/off) so the lever can be gently removed from the tractor and replace the Oring on the levers shaft. This takes two people, ONCE YOU GET THE GROOVE PIN REMOVED. Over the years, many tractors have been split to do this repair. If one of these is ever split for ANY other reason, always replace this Oring.  Always replace the pin with a Gr8 bolt and locknut.

Thanks much for the information.  So I have to split the tractor to replace an O-ring on the PTO shifter.  Unfortunately this will be the fate of my tractor as I have no way of doing this at this time. This will be difficult after seeing it run so well.  Guess you win and loose a few..  Once again thanks for your input.

It can and has been done before without splitting the tractor. It ain't easy and takes small hands and some homemade tools.
