Yesterday I used my old 190XT for round baling after a year of sitting and it was going really good and then I started to notice the power steering was not silk smooth but was a little bit more force to turn it and then it just gradually became sorta hard to steer it. The hydraulics were working the baler like as always.
And plenty of hydraulic fluid on the stick.
I also noticed that my ps lines that for years were always dry were showing some oil seepage around the console and down the hoses.
Just got injection pump rebuilt and a newer turbo on it and now this.
Anyone got an idea of what is happening?
 Help!

We had a 6610 Ford do this after having a new hydrostatic steering motor (the old one kept blowing out bottom gaskets from what we ended up figuring was a warped housing).  The new one got to where the hotter it got, the stiffer it was to steer.  Ultimately we ended up replacing it under warranty (thankfully, as it was a $1600 part, and that was in the mid to early 2000's).  I guess the only help I can be is the only time I have seen this it has been in the steering motor.  But that had a different design, so I would check your priority valve (if a dual pump) or the steering section of the pump if a triple pump before I blamed the steering motor.

I agree with Hurst a buddy has a 200 that hyd. system got dirty from PTO clutch falling apart and the spool in the pump would stick and lose steering and pressure to hold power director in but if held 3pt arms in raise position he would gain it all back. You can take the spool out with pump on it is the big plug on back but you need a thin wall socket because it is not machined very much bigger than plug.It could be the spring in there too.

Well here it is, Oct 5th and finally some weather without rain in it. Been busy cuttting and baling hay and using the old XT on the baler.  Then the old XT's power steering control valve started pouring oil out of the steering column, Oh yippie.  Now something more to fix. ... Could the seals be what caused the steering to be stiffer than usual? and finally blew out?  Or am I in for worse discoveries than that?  Got a new 4 piece seal kit coming.

Feel your pain - get everything going your way, then bang, something goes out -- hard to be patient - but nothing ya can do but be patient.
